religious conflicts during final exams
This winter term, Passover falls during the final
examination period, on April 17, 18, 23, and 24. Observant
students may not be able to write their exams on the days as
scheduled. They will need to follow this procedure to apply
for a special exam arrangement:
- They submit a conflict form to the Associate Dean's
secretary, indicating the conflict. They must attach a
letter from their Rabbi confirming that they are observant
and will be unable to write their exam at the scheduled
time.
- If approved, a special exam will be scheduled for them
on May 1 or 2.
- Students whose request has been approved but who cannot
write on May 1 or May 2 may be given permission to write a
deferred exam during the Deferred and Supplemental exam
period in August.
- Students will pick up a letter confirming the special
exam arrangement from the Recorder's Office, along with a
confidentiality form that they will be required to fill out
and submit to the Recorder before exams begin.
- The deadline for applications is March 14. Any appeals
after that date will be considered but we cannot guarantee
that we will be able to accommodate the request. If the
request is refused because of the lateness of the request,
the student will be eligible to write a deferred exam in
August.
