Welcome to COMP-202 Introduction to Computing 1. This information is for the Winter term of 2005.

In this page you will find all the relevant information for this course. Please check out the News section often for any announcements, updates regarding assignments, office hours etc.

The Syllabus section contains a description of the course, including the topics, the prerequisites, the textbook, access to the computer labs, the grading system, the instructors, etc.

The Calendar section shows the topics covered week by week, including the readings assigned.

The Assignments section contains the assignments, their solution (posted after the deadline for the assignment), a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section, and a section informing of any updates or clarifications on the assignments.

The Office hours section has a list of the instructors and TAs (Teaching Assistants) with their corresponding office hours and office.

The WebCT section contains a link to WebCT, and information on how to submit assignments.

The Notes section will contain lecture notes. These will be posted as the term progresses.

The Hints section offers some suggestions on how to pass this course.

The Resources section has information on how to install and use the JDK and some popular IDE's, as well as other useful information. These will be posted as the term progresses.

Finally the Links section contains links to external websites relevant to the course, in particular it has links to WebCT, to Sun's Java website and to JCreator's website.

  • April 27: For students **in Marc's section**, you may come to talk about your grades (including looking at your final) during the following two times:

    • Thu Apr 28th 17:30 - 19:00
    • Mon May 2nd 17:30 - 19:00

    If you can't make it in those times you can email Marc to make an appointment up till Friday May 6th, but no later.

  • April 21: Solutions to the final exam can be found in the Resources section.
  • April 18: Solutions to assignment 5 have been posted in the Assignments section.
  • April 11: A sample final has been posted in the Resources section.
